Sometimes you just hit the light the right way. There is no substitute for this. There aren’t “tricks” to the edit that can create the quality of light that some evenings just magically have. If you end up with a night like this for your portrait session, or wedding, or while on vacation, please take a moment to realize how lucky you are, to soak it in, to really enjoy it. I take pride in creating beautiful photographs in a wide variety of lighting situations, but my oh my, when I witness the beauty of a night like this I’m doing a little happy dance inside (and probably an actual happy dance too).
